Is the Knife TOO Good? Resident Evil 4 Remake Interview Analysis

Resident Evil 4 (2005) required a lot of player skill to maximize the knife's value as an "unlimited-use" weapon. Players needed to carefully translate their plan for action into the knife's only usable swing animation, which could solely be used when Leon stood stationary (outside of boss QTE's). This required precision especially if used around Ashley, to rescue her or ward off oncoming Ganados. The Resident Evil 4 Remake's knife, however, can be used as a failsafe to immediately kill any Ganado carrying away Ashley with the press of a button. It only costs a little expenditure of the knife's durability meter. While this quality of life enhancement can spare players the dilemma of having to rescue Ashley without harming her, that dilemma represents part of what made the original so bloody tense: the chance that you could fail and earn yourself a game over without the remake's easy-save with the knife. Of course, these are my preliminary thoughts and concerns before having played the game (or even the demo), so please take these with a grain of salt. There's a plus side (actually multiple) to the remake's limited-use knives as well, though... let's talk about it. Is my stance on the Resident Evil 4 Remake's knife justified, or is there something I'm overlooking? Let me know!
