Layers of Fear 2 - A Worthy Successor? | GAME REVIEW

Bloober Team are at it again--conjuring bizarre environments to wonder around in while drip-feeding tragic narratives. Layers of Fear 2 (2019) is a greater attempt to create an unforgettable horror experience by applying lessons learned from Layers of Fear (2016) and Observer (2017). But is Layers of Fear 2 a worthy successor to the first game? In this review, I'll do my best to provide what I believe is the answer to that question.

The original Layers of Fear was--in my opinion--excellently executed. The game was only around 2 hours long, but it managed to cram enough interesting visual and narrative content into a small package to keep it from growing stale. My concern going into Layers of Fear 2 was that unless the developers added dynamic gameplay into the mix, the fun-house-styled, theatrical experience would prove to be too little, substantially, to fill out a game that is twice the length of its predecessor. This game review of Layers of Fear 2 is my take on what the game manages to pull off, and where it falls flat.

Did you think Layers of Fear 2 was a step in the right direction for Bloober Team?
