It’s been 10 years since the release of The Dark Descent and countless games have mimicked the mechanics and tone of that game. Despite this, few have come close to achieving the gameplay balance and producing the horror within The Dark Descent. Could Amnesia: Rebirth top the accomplishments of The Dark Descent? Could it even come close?

After multiple playthroughs of Amnesia: Rebirth, my conclusion is that Frictional Games made a number of decisions that have kept this game from coming close to reaching the quality of SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. In this video review, I'll explain why.
